At 14 my eyes started rolling almost uncontrollably. I could make them stop if I willed myself to and thought about it all the time. People thought I was doing it because of something they had said. Not the case. While I was being tested at the docs office for other problems that I'll get to in a minute, I asked the doctor what it was, he said nervous tics. I'm now 28 and still have this problem. But wait theres more.
Shortly after my eyes started fluttering, I started waking up in the middle of the night. I had no idea who I was or where I was. My legs wouldn't work. One time In particular when I was 17, I had just found out I was pregnant that day. I woke up, I had lost all bladder control and wet my bed. I tried to stand and kept falling. I would close my eyes and my whole body would ***k and I would envision anothr way I was dying. It was terrifying. I was so disorientated I laid back down in my own urine and passed out. When I woke the next morning I was covered in urine and every muscle in my body was pulled. I had bitten my tongue in 3 places and it had huge welps on the sides. I could barly talk or walk. I had to call in to work because I was so sore.
I find if I can just hold my eyes open I can avoid the body jerks that make me sling stuff across the room and forget it. I have woken up jerking and twitching so bad that I would light up a cigarette, ***k, drop it on the comforter, forget it, and light up another one. I have woke up the next morning with 3 or 4 full cigarette burns on my bed from the night before where whole cigarettes had burned out on them.
I still have the twitches, even if I get enough sleep. But I am having trouble sleeping. I have trouble controlling my muscles when I first wake up and my whole body "freezes" up. I still envision ways I will die. I see things that are not there for about the first 20 min after waking. I drop things.
I have had a MRI and nothing was found. I got this after one episode where I started feeling funny. The last thing I remembered was telling my husband to get me to the er now. The next thing I remember was waking up in the er and they were taking my vitals. I had walked in myself and was setting up on the exam table. My husband said I was shaking and foaming at the mouth. I was 18 and my little girl was about 2 months old if that. The doctors did all kinds of test and found nothing wrong.
It has been 14 years since this started. The symptoms have eased slightly, and I am able to live an almost normal life. Here are some other symptoms I am having, If they help. Twitches, Spasms, Eyes rolling, Weakness, Unable to sleep, Constipation, anemia, Fatigue, Mood swings, Irritable, Loss of interest, If it helps I can not live without a diet Pepsi in my hands at all times. If I don't take at least one drink every 5 -10 minutes or more my mouth goes dry, and I get moody. I have been known to drink 6 2-liters in a day. I think that is compulsive. And alot of pepsi. I smoke too much. I don't drink alcohol or do any drugs. I don't even take pain killers that have been prescribed to me because they make me sick.
What could be causing this 14 yrs is long enough to deal with this. Thanks.
