  • My father survived for 6 years after his diagnosis of mulptiple myeloma. He had only been given 6 months to 2 years, but he had a strong will to live and stayed as positive as one can in that position. He was treated by amazing doctors at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. If you go to their web site and type mulptiple myeloma in their search bar, they will provide you with all the resources you need. I will send the link, but I'm not sure if this web site will allow that...http://www.roswellpark.org/Site/Patient_Care/Types_of_Cancer/Hematology_Center/Multiple_Myeloma/Multiple_Myeloma_ResourcesHere is another site that might help too:http://www.multiplemyeloma.org/about_myeloma/Good luck. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers!

  • Hi thereMy Mum was diagnosed with the same type of cancer 2 years ago. She was very bad at that time. They said she waited too long to seek some help. She is still alive, going every month for a chimo (she lives in Bulgaria, not here) but I have read that some people can even live 10 years if they were treated correctly... She feels fine (thanks God) but 2 years ago she was almost dead. She could not look after herself, kept bed for months, we were cleaning her, giving her food, she was not speaking etc. Now she does shopping every day, look after my Dad etc. She will be 68 years old in 10 days. Her doctor said that she is in the condition that they wanted her to be and we aim to keep her in it as long as possible. She has got chimo now home (takes Alkeran) and also Zometa (for the bones). She was in a severe pain. Now, she still has got pain, mainly in the back but not that strong- she can cope without any medicines. Please do ask me if you need to.I hope the above helps.
