Hi hope someone can help i'm at the end of the line trying to help my mum.

She has what are known as DROP ATTACKS (sudden blackouts),TIA's(mini strokes),SUBCLAVIEAN STEAL, EXTRA BONES IN HER NECK and DIMENTIA.

She has had all sorts of tests (MRI,CT Scans, EEG,ECG,and all other normal tests.)

She has had blackout since she was 15 years old and they couldn't find out what was causing them.

In the past 5 years she has become a prisoner of her condition not being able to go out alone and is now coming to the point she can't live alone.

She is having these attacks up to 6 times a day and the doctor says there is nothing they can do as they still don't know whats causing them.

She has seen all sorts of specialists who just keep saying she is a mystery.

She is still what i consider to be a young person at 69 years old she should be out enjoying life.

Any suggestions or referrals would be helpful as thi is my last resort.

  • You might want to make sure hashimoto's encephalopathy has been ruled out. This is done by checking thyroid antibodies (not just hormones)

  • The subclavian steal syndrome is probably the cause of all the problems. Has she had an endarterectomy or balloon angioplasty?
