May 2006- started having uncontrollable diarrhea everyday, abdominal pain, and vaginal bleeding.

July 2006- went to primary doctor, and OBGYN. Had a pelvic ultrasound. Both doctors did not know why I was bleeding.

September 2006- Had an I.U.D put in. The OBGYN said the I.U.D could make me bleed for up to 1 year.

Around October or November, I changed my Primary doctor. I told him about the diarrhea. I got a blood test, which came back normal. He said I probably have I.B.S. Over a period of months my doctor prescribed several medications, which only made my stomach pains worse.

February 2007- I got a new OBGYN, which said I was probably still bleeding because of my I.U.D.

In the beginning of March I stopped bleeding, and started having bad vaginal discharge.

March 8th- I went to my primary doctor, I was having abdominal pain, and pain when I went to the bathroom. He prescribed me antibiotics and said I probably have a UTI.

March 10th 2007- I got really nauseas, and I started having bad stabbing pain in my lower abdomin. Fever of around 100.0.

March 12th 2007- I went to the emergency room. E.R said I have Pelvic Inflammatory disease. I was prescribed antibiotics.

I took all antibiotics as prescribed. But continued to have the same symptoms.

Around March 29th 2007- I had be having bad abdominal pain and I was still nauseas I wet back to my primary doctor and told him I am still feeling horrible. He said I probably have Bacterial Vaginitis. He prescribed me antibiotics.

April 3rd 2007- I went to a different emergency room. They did a Pelvic cat scan, pelvic exam, and blood tests. They said they cannot find anything but a small cyst on my left ovary, that shouldn't be causing any symptoms.

I have had a mild fever, bad headaches 24 hours a day, nausea 24 hours a day and bad stabbing pains that come and go for over a month. My tongue is now all white, which I think might be from all the antibiotics I am so frustrated, I cry everyday. I have barley been able to leave the house for all this time. I cannot go shopping, because when I stand for too long I get really light headed, and I feel like I am about to throw up. And Intercourse hurts really badly.

I am 22 years old, I have been married for over 6 years, we have 3 kids. I have no other medical conditions. I do have a hernia, that hasn't caused me any problems.

Any help would be so amazing. Thank you so very much!

  • A few questions first.1. Have you had a blood test for anemia. 2. Are you still bleeding3. Are you still having diarrhea. My suggestion is that you go back to your primary care doctor and discuss the option of having the IUD taken out. It sounds like something is cooking down there and it needs to be sorted out. Dont wait. If you dont feel better go again and again to the doctor. They wont know it is a problem unless you continously feed back that it is not getting better. If things are not getting better then there are further tests and investigations that need to be doneGood luck and hope to hear from you soonWith Peace

  • A progesterone containing IUS eg Mirena may be a good option. It thins the womb lining unlike IUDs and reduceds blood loss. Just an idea

  • I don't know about the diarrhea, but I did have the "Copper T" IUD and it made me bleed on and off for a number of months. It also caused me to have abdominal pain and several ovarian cysts. My IUD had to be removed. You should ask the doctor whether he/she thinks it's a good idea to continue to have an IUD if you have confirmed PID.

  • If your symptoms are: diarhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite you might want to ask your doctor to do a Carcinoid 24hour urine test..if he orders the test do not eat bannanas, avacodos, pineapples, tomatoes, walnuts, pecans, kiwi, they may cause the test to be voided....Please ask your PCP about the list of foods to avoid 3 days prior to taking this test....IUD and vaginal bleeding is one problem but...it should not cause....diarhea.Good luck

  • March 12th 2007- I went to the emergency room. E.R said I have Pelvic Inflammatory disease. I was prescribed antibiotics Do you still have the IUD? If so get it out right now! An IUD can cause PID, and you shouldn't have it in if you are getting PID symptoms. And with a low grade fever you are showing signs of infection/inflammation. IUD's whether copper or Mirena, sometimes have horrible side effects, and doctors often dismiss this...Please get yourself some nonhormonal form of birth control...Sorry, but your docs sound like idiots:confused: . Has anyone ever done a full stool test to determine why you had the diarrhea? A blood test won't show this. You need to get a stool test done, and specifically ask them to test you for Clostridium Difficile infection - they won't do it unless it is specifically asked. Do to your extensive antibiotic use, you most likely have candida overload. Please google this and get info on candida - there are some excellent cleanses you can try, Threelac is very good. You should be taking a good quality probiotic daily to help rebuild your intestinal flora. When was your last child born? Did the bleeding happen soon after? Is the bleeding bright red, dark, or pale in color? Is it profuse or more like spotting? Were your other births normal, or did you have any complications with deliveries? I don't know where you live, but please try to find an alternative practitioner to help you - naturopath, acupuncturist, or homeopath. A good alternative doc would be better able to tie together all of your symptoms, and perhaps offer you a way to get back into balance. You sound very depleted. Best wishesDOM
