I have been on antidepressants for over a year and they have progressively worked less and less since I started taking them. Everytime I go to a doctor and describe my symptoms they tell me to keep trying on using the medication (Lexapro aka Esipram) and then offer me a small quantity of Valium for "emergency use" (which I have never accepted).

My mood is constantly low, I have lost interest in any activity I used to enjoy, am unmotivated (I used to be extremely enthusiastic about things), I am constantly tired and sleep for up to 14 hours a day. I also have high mood swings where I will be totally obsessed with something for anything between a few hours up to a fortnight. In these periods I deprive myself of sleep, food and shirk household, school and work duties so that I may continue with whatever is holding my attention.

I have been told that my antidepressants are strong enough for me, that it is definitely mild depression and that my high swings dont last long enough to be bipolar. Can anyone please help me, I want my life back.
