My friend has been out on the streets for a while now due to being kicked out and she refuses to get help.
A couple of nights ago, it was really really cold and she got freezing. She learned later that she had passed out as she woke up in hospital. Though once she had she just walked out with no-one seeing her.
Can someone tell me what happened to her? I need to convince her to get help.

  • That sounds like a terribly frustrating situation. It sounds, from your description, like your friend has become mentally ill. If you are located in the U.S. you can get social services to put her in a mental hospital for 72 hours (yes, against her will) where they will try to figure out if some medication can help her.Good luck,Shula

  • It sounds like she might have had hypothermia. The real question is why she is refusing to get help to get her back on her feet again. Maybe that is where you can help. I do not go along with the idea of banging anyone up against their will and putting them on medication, just because they don't fit in with society. It might be that she is refusing help because of independence or pride. If so, then such an infringement in human rights would have a devastating effect.
