Hi....I'm a little concerned about what's going on with my body. For a long time I have had heart palpitations (especially at night), however lately it's been constant. Along with this symptom I've been experiencing others which are now causing a concern. The other symptoms are: cough with mucous, pain on right side with feeling of heat, feeling of a bulge in chest, diarhea (it was pure liquid at times) - soft stools, Color of stools have changed to a lighter color, constant mild heart burn, bloating with lot's of gas, dry eye, nausea all the time - from mild to could have vomited if I allowed myself, itchy-severely dry skin and at times a stabbing burning feeling, easily bruised (lately), labored breathing with occassional shortness of breath however I can exercise (mild) for a time without complications, mouth & Gum sores, insomnia, other.
I have been to the doctor but have yet to get a correct diagnosis. My feeling is I should just go to the emergency room and see what happens. If these symptoms get worse I will. Is there anyone out there that might give me an idea on what's causing these problems?

  • Hi Linda and welcome!I would stick with your regular doctor over an emergency room visit as long as your cardiac symptoms are not getting out of control... Palpitations are often a sign of mineral/electrolyte imbalance and your GI symptoms could contribute to this kind of problem. Blood tests can check for mineral/vitamin imbalance but doctors rarely do these kind of tests unless you ask for them. Many of your other symptoms, pain on right side, pale stool, nausea, itching, bruising, etc are very common liver symptoms and an unhappy liver can cause vitamin/mineral issues. I would ask your doc for a liver/lipid panel if he/she hasn't already done this and look to improve the health of your liver. "Fatty Liver" is growing quite common and is causing a lot of trouble for a lot of people. Lecithin (triple strength if you can find it), SAM-e, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Acetyl L-Carnitine, B-Complex and C are typical supplements that help livers into a better state. They are fairly safe and have few side effects. Ask your doctor if you can try these for a while. Avoid mega-doses of anything, but you need to take more than a couple of the Lecithin per day. Perhaps one with breakfast, two with lunch and three with dinner. SAM-e is expensive, but quite powerful at liver restoration... I prefer the 200mg dosage over the 400mg and take it a couple times a day. You must take SAM-e on an empty stomach with a full glass of water or it will do you no good. You should have no problem with the 200mg doses. You should notice some effect in one or two months if these are going to help you. If you feel a little better, give them a few more months for more dramatic results. Good Luck and GodSpeed to you!

  • dry eyes and dry skin makes me think Sjogren's sydrome http://sclero.org/medical/symptoms/sjogrens/a-to-z.html this illness can be a part of other autoimmune issues. "Hallmark symptoms of Sjögren's include dry eyes, dry mouth, dry vagina. Sjögren's can also cause fatigue, and it can affect the skin, lungs, heart, kidneys, muscles, and central nervous system. • Thanks for a very informative response. From some training and experience my gut said it was possibly a liver issue. I would certainly get the lecithin and take some vitamins (normally I'm not into supplements. Plant medicine/herbs is usually the way I go). I started taking a liver/kidney detox formula which seems to be helping. Also drinking clean water. I'm taking a electrolyte mix called electromix which is same as gatorade without the unnecessary garbage and sugar in it. Even though I have been dealing with these symptoms at various severity levels for a long time I feel I'm on the right track. If things don't improve I will certainly go back to my DR and ask for the appropriate blood tests and other tests. Thanks again for all the responses! Hi Linda and welcome! • Thank you for your response. I have read a bit of the Sjogrens information and found many symptoms I am experiencing. I have all the "hallmark" symptoms. Maybe I need to go see the Dr sooner rather than later. dry eyes and dry skin makes me think Sjogren's sydrome http://sclero.org/medical/symptoms/sjogrens/a-to-z.html this illness can be a part of other autoimmune issues.
