for 2 days now i had these headaches that seemed to come and go and were slight pain, like on a scale from 1-10, 1. it does ware off if i take a sip of coffee and seems that it moves from one side to the other..sometimes. i do actually have neck pain from not sleeping well and am a frequent coffee drinker....can it be the caffeine or migraines...i do have anxiety problems sometimes and stress too but this got me thinkin?

  • The mention that drinking coffee results in decreased symptoms always suggests that the headaches are vascular in origin. Caffeine causes vasoconstriction. Your description that the pain is transient would suggest a migrainous pattern. Stress headaches tend to form most often in the temporal or occipital region and the pain remains more focused than decentralized or transient. As always, if symptoms persist more than 2 weeks or grow worse, then you should be evaluated by your primary care physician. Best regards, J Cottle, MD
