Ok long story but details are needed;
Recently turned 18 female. Have been experiencing headaches daily for 14 weeks and counting. Visited local doctors a few times and each time was different conclusions made, from stress headaches to sinusitus. Went to opticians by recommendation of last doctor visit. Seemed to go well until i noticed the optician was spending far longer looking at eyes than usual. After 2 hours of varius checks there i was told to immediately go to A&E and theyrang up the A&E department to inform them of my situation. By this time i was freaking out because it seemed so much more serious than i thought. The opticians had seen what they thought to be papilloedema. Once arrived at the hospital my eyes were examined again and then i was told i would have to see the opthamologist. The wait wasnt long and she confirmed the suspicion of papilloedema and told me i would need to see neurologist (it was friday evening so i would have til monday to be seen) and possibly have a lumbarpuncture depending what the neurologist said. I was told i needed to stay in hospital for the weekend since they didnt want me to go home. It wasnt til early in the morning that i was given a bed in a ward. After a small amount of sleep i was taken to have a CT scan which came back normal. A few hours later i had a lumbarpuncture which showed almost double the normal amount of CSF liquid. A few days later i finally saw the neurologist but he didnt seem to think it was intrcranial hypertenaion which was suspected and claimed that the lp could of given a false high reading since i hadnt been relaxed much (do you blame me? im scared badly of needles) Was then referred to opthamologist again and he seemed certain it was papilloedema and therefore the intracranial hypertension. Was then referred back to neurologist who disagreed and then discharged me with treatmwnt for possible tension type headaches. I have been on this medication for 5 weeks now and it hasnt helped at all. Im getting blurry vision, nausea regularly and if anything the headaches are getting more frequent. Worst at night and mornings but now more frequent in the day than before hospitalisation. Have a follow up appointmet with neurologist tomorrow but wondered if anyone could give me an idea to what is wrong with me? Thanks
p.s Have been told by hospital not to take painkillers anymore ad never go back on the contrceptive pill. Also have not had a period since the first day in hospital which is about 7 weeks ago.
