Ok well i have been getting headaches for the past 2 months, i have been to the doctor twice about it and he prescribes me antimixcillian or something along those lines, this drug has done nothing and i'm still feeling like this.

Here is an outline of what happens to me most days

7.00AM - Wake Up - Sore Throat (goes as soon as gunk is coughed up from my throat), Brown/Green/White Phlegm, Tiredness,

10.00AM - Blocked Ears, Ears wont pressurize, light pressure behind eyes, Brown phlegm, tiredness.

1.00PM - Light Headaches, All the same symptoms as before, feeling like crap

8.00PM - Headache still present, hurts when i shake my head, all the same symptoms as before, sometimes sore eyes

10.00PM - Bed time - all the same symptoms, by this time my ears are tired of trying to pressurize all day

I cant seem to nail the location of the headache, it seems on the sides but sometimes i think its on the back/front.

That is what happens to me everyday, sometimes with slight variations. Muscle's pulsating quickly, sore eyes, ears hurt when i close jaw, stiff neak and light ear aches

Please help me find a cure to this, i hate everyday as i know i will feel like crap.

Ohh and my dad has bad sinus pains, he gets migranes, is always coughing up phlegm and cant cope with much pressure without getting a migrane. He has it bad but i dont think he has a headache everyday.

This headache issue started after i had the flu which took 1.5 weeks to get over.

  • The main cause of Otitis media is Strep. pneumonea.. did they do a throat swab before they gave you medication?Because the infection is resistant it's likely to be moraxella, if it is you would need augmentin or cephalosporins(3gen). Rhinovirus would also be a possibility. There could also be a coinfection of mononucleosis, which could help explain some of the tiredness and photophobia.. but these symptoms could just be caused by a primary infection. However, Mono has a tendancy to last a long time and would explain the length of the symptoms.

  • You have allergies, I'm not kidding. Try a basic antihistamine and take it regularly.

Will i need antibiotics to get rid of them?

  • Strep is a bacteria, it causes pharyngitis, middle ear infections, and pneumoniamoraxella is a bacteria, causes pharyngitis and middle ear infections (Very drug resistant requires the Antibiotics augmentin, or 3rd generation cephalosporins)rhinovirus is a virus, causes flu and middle ear infections.Mononucleosis is a virus, causes chronic fatigue and pharyngitisYou can get rid of the first two with antibiotics, the others you need to wait out.. they may have some kind of therapy for Mononucleosis, and Zicam (i think) can decrease the duration of rhinovirus (which it probably isn't because of the length of illness).

  • I would suggest asking if you could get tested for mononucleosis, and get the doctor to prescribe you Augmentin.. If it's one of the other viruses it will eventually resolve on its own, but the Mono will last much longer. Augmentin will clear up any other bacteria that could be the culprit, specifically moraxella.I'm assuming that they gave you Amoxicillin previously, moraxella is resistant to this antibiotic.

  • Very unlikely with your combination of other symptoms. Read up on chronic fatigue syndrome. It's much more likely. It's associated with mononucleosis.

  • It doesnt really sound bad enough to be something like chronic fatigue syndrome at this point (tiredness is in so many different illnesses) but if you develop more symptoms and it becomes completely deabilitating eg You are having to change your life due to the illness .. certainly do look into CFS then. CFS is a very serious complex illness which is more than about just tiredness. To give you some idea of what CFS patients experience.. check out http://wwcoco.com/cfids/bernesx.html . I myself have CFS and have about 90 different symptoms, CFS affects many many areas. i dont think you have to worry about cancer as your symptoms are indicating something viral/bacterial etc

  • Doesnt sound as if it will work if it hasnt worked before for you. guess all you can do is follow up with that treatment again and then go back to the doctors again when it didnt work. He's going to have to sooner or later do something else for you if you persist with his treatments arent working. It would of been a good idea to have asked him in your appointment that "What are you going to suggest next if it dont work again? Then you would of had another course of action to follow up on if the treatment didnt work yet again.

  • Hi Vipa,Sometimes fulness in the ears and headaches is an indication you have some facial muscle cramps/dysfunction. Have you tried a visit to a massage therapist?? It is fairly inexpensive (about $50) and may be of help to you.Best Wishes

  • Well im still getting headaches, i have finished the hayfever tablets and the antimoxcillian tablets, now im just using the nose spray. The headaches arent at the front of my head, i think they are located around the back but i cant pinpoint a position. The headaches start at around 12-1pm each day, im not to sure why. I wake up fine but then at that time they kick in. I dont really want to live like this anymore. Sometimes when i laugh of cough my head hurts more. I do use alot of hairgel, could this maybe be the problem?Anyway, all help would be good, i may go to the doctors again next week and try to get brain scans, blood tests etc. :(

  • Hi Vipa,Your latest post sounds like muscle cramps of the facial muscles. By getting brain scans, blood tests, etc, you may be spending more than the $50 to visit a massage therapist (ask the therapist to focus on your trapezius, SCM, and masseter muscles).
