Daughter is now 14 yo (15 in March), 5'6", 115lbs.
Was dx with borderline lactose intolerance, but believe that is wrong. No difference when pills are taken. DX through endoscopic test.
The headache is right over the eyes and is always there, sometimes light, sometimes strong. Have had the headache since Sept 9, 2005. It is not migraine, light doesn't hurt the eyes, nothing makes it worse or better, wake up with it, medication doesn't relieve at all.
Take 1000 mg of B12 daily per blood test that said it was low.
Eating brings on abdominal pain and nausea. Even not eating does the same. Sometimes it feels like still full hours after a meal. Gastric emptying test came back normal. Burps a lot.

CT scans normal, sinus normal, spinal tap normal, pelvic ulttrasound, sleep study normal, various blood tests. Acupuncture no help, psychiatrist says normal, various medications no help.

Symptoms might not even be related. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks.

  • Did they ever do a schilling test to see why your daughter is low in B12? Is she a vegetarian (B12 is found in meat and animal products)? Is her B 12 level normal now after supplementation?Depending on the answers to the above, she may have pernicious anemia and have difficulty making the protein you need to absorb B12. If this is the case, she may also be at risk for other autoimmune diseases, such as thyroiditis, celiac disease, etc (which could also produce similar symptoms). You might want to have her get checked for all 3. In the mean time, make sure the B12 replacement is with lozenges that go under the tongue.Best Wishes.

  • Thank you. She is not deficient in B12 while she is on them and she is not a vegeterian. I will request she be tested for what you mentioned. Thanks for your input. Terri

  • Have you looked into systematic intestinal candida? Or food allergies? I had those same tests and was so sick-- once they diagnosed these things (cause I asked and was persistent) it was amazing how much my health (and things I didn't even know were wrong) turned around. Hoping the best for her.
