How many doctors and tests does it take to get a diagnosis. I'm beginning to hate the word "virus". My 12 year son has had a recurrent headache and low grade fever for 3 months now with NO OTHER SYMPTOMS. There have been periods within these 3 months that he has been on antibiotics and seemed to get better for a few days but the symptoms come right back. He has had several blood tests, allergy testing, CT scan of brain & sinus and tests for mono, meningitis & strep throat. All of these came back negative. The doctors were labeling as sinus until the CT scan came back negative. Now they are saying "virus", but can a virus last for 3 months?? He has missed SO MUCH school !
Does anyone have any ideas? I wonder if there could be some strange, rare thing that the doctors aren't thinking of testing for? It seems they only want to test for the most common illnesses.
