A couple months back I was having "panic attacks" this was late last year. My doctor sent me to a psychiatrist who then told me nothing was wrong and honestly I was wasting my time and money so I stopped going.

Recently about 2 weeks ago at least 3 times a night I wake up with a pounding chest and adrenalin rush. I lay there until I relax and then go back to sleep. But it happens at least 2/3 times a night and I've been having to take a nap during the day because I'm so tired.

Now, any time I lay down for a nap or just lay down my chest stars pounding and it goes all the way up to my throat it feels like. I don't think they are panic attacks because I know that those feel differently. But my chest is pounding AND feels tight. I'm only 17 this doesn't feel like normal. I plan on making a dr.s appointment tomorrow, but any ideas and in put would be gladly appreciated!

  • I agree with the other guy. This is more than likely a condition that is cardiac in origin. This is a common complaint in much older patients exhibiting stages of CHF or COPD, but are not unheard of in the younger population. You may want to consider a family history of cardiac disease, history of congenital heart defects in immediate family members, mitral stenosis, regurgitation, etc. The problem may also be vascular in nature and I would reccomend examination of the aorta, and the aortic valves as well as the pulmonary artery and leaflets.
