For the past 7 months my mother has not been able to eat anything but peanut butter...She started off with a bad case of mono at the beginning of the year and has not been the same since. She hasbeen to dr after dr and they can not seem to diagnose her. She has done barium swallows cat scans etc to see what is wrong with her and help her fix this problem and nothing. She explains it to me as when she goes to eat her food, she chews it, swallows and before it even makes it to the stomach it comes back up completly on its own almost as if a surprise to her. Drs have compared it to a acid reflux problem but that is not it...anyone ever heard of anything like this or can someone help?? im really worried about her.

  • Has she had an endoscopy? Doctors suspected I had acid reflux initially as well. Similar case...I was diagnosed with mono so when I had symptoms of severe nausea (especially after attempting to eat), I assumed it was due to the mono. However, after not eating solid foods for weeks, the symptoms were so bad, I was unable to ingest any liquids & it was recommended that I get an immediate endoscopy. Turned out to be 'severe chronic gastritis'...stomach ulcers, all GI related. Keep me updated, I'm curious to see how things turn out.
