Well, it appears that I found a group that understands my quest.

I have been dealing with hypersensitivity of my hands since before October of last year...hard edges caused pain when I would grab something such as door handles. The joints where red and I have a rash on my right hand on index finger in the joint. This has since now moved to my left hand which I was simply told was dishwasher dermatitis. The skin on my knuckles is now dry and cracking...nut no wonder it is winter...although I have never had this happen before.

Now for about the same length of time I have had pain in my hands - pain using scissors, writting, typing - just general use of my hands. Some days are good - others are bad. My knuckles are so tender that just a light tap is painful.

The pain is intensitified by cold weather or being in a cold office which I am - they keep it freezing so I am in constant pain.

I also have pain in my feet and legs when it is cold. Pain in my hips as well...

To date I have tested positive for ANA which the RA doc says is most likely a false positive. No other tests have shown any issues such as the torture...I mean nerve condution test. That was clear.

The only other issue found to date is I am low on Vitamin D - my B12 was fine.

Anyone in this boat? In pain all the time, well most of the time and I am being referred to yet another set of docs.

  • Has anyone thought about scleroderma? It has a positive ANA and is associated with Raynaud's phenomena, which may be the cold sensation you are feeling. Try here: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/MEDLINEPLUS/ency/article/000429.htm

  • Thanks for the info. I thankfully do not have that. My skin does not turn white...and only a bluish tint on occassion to the nailbed of my toes. The other night I was so cold (entire body) tha every joint I had hurt so bad it was hard to get up from the couch and walk across the room. Just crazy to me...I am only 33 and feel 80 some days. Thanks again for the info.:)

  • Raynaud's is not necessarily always white. Yes, it can be blue in color. I wish you the best.
