Hello Everyone

Is anyone else being treated for hand ezcema? I was dx probably two years ago and am still having problems. After steroids, creams and ointments my doc started giving me the light treatments five days a week and then gradually decreasing the days but increasing the time until I was at 10 minutes. He thought it would keep the ezcema in remission for a long time. It didn't. I've had two steroid shots in 2 1/2 month and am now using the ointment Protopic. The ointment seems to help as the ezcema clears up for a month and then I start to itch again. I am very careful to keep my hands cool and use gloves when working outside. But I'm frustrated because I thought I could keep this at bay for more then a month at a time.

Has anyone been symptom free for more then a month? What other treatments are there to help?

Maddoxlost where i seen ur post, gave young girl my tips hope i can re; them 4 u too! i'm 36 had eczema since childhood now psoriosis. the only prescription thats ever gave relief is tiamol cream. my biggest improvement was stop using regular soap bars, i only use goats milk soap now, with few exceptions(every brand is different,so try a few,the better quality!) the only dish soap i can tolerate is DAWN (for plastics originally) w/anti-bacterial hand soap, i prefer green-apple blossom scent! (old derm..dr hinted it had to do w/the ant-bac..) it may take while if it helps, since avoiding all exsposure is hard eg; work/school/public if irritants/allergens are part of cause. the worst for me has always been ivory! it may not be a miracle, but a start. investigate into other allergens & remember they seem to change over years,so retest too!
