Hairs in mouth

My girlfriend has the feeling that her mouth is full of hairs. You know that irritating sensation when you get a tiny dog hair or something at the back of your throat- she has that but all around her mouth. Can't diagnose it looking around on the internet and wondered if there was a well known reason for this that I'm missing before she makes a doctor appointment.

Only thing I could come up with was anemia or thyroid related. I'll give some background info as well which might help diagnosis:

-40 yrs old, fit and healthy otherwise
-Teacher so very stressed (could it be stress related?)
-Recently had a baby (4 months ago)
-Just started back at work after maternity leave
-Not on any medication
-Had iron deficiency/anemia during pregnancy and wonder if it might be related to that

To pre-empt the obvious, we've had a good look and she doesn't have any hairs in her mouth :)

Thanks for help in advance
