  • Are your parents or grandparents people whose hair/beard went gray when they were quite young? I know people young than you who are turning gray in the beard and a bit in the hair. The hair/beard turn gray gradually. That is probably why you've noticed just part of it is gray.

  • I wouldn't worry too much about it, several of my brother's friends have had grey patches in their beards or on their heads since highschool. In fact my brother's beard has had patches of both grey and red in it since his late teens (he's got dark brown hair). One friend's hair went grey in a very short time (at about your age), it turned out to be genetic. At least you still have hair! If you are really sensitive about it, keep your beard shaved (like my bro), or try that grecian formula for beards. Why does it happen? your body has prematurely stopped producing the pigment that gives hair its color. Don't feel too bad, look at Anderson Cooper on CNN. His whole head has been white for years and he isn't very old.

  • I do have a few white/greyish and even somewhat weird white-reddish individual facial hairs (not patches), most on the mustache, and I'm 26 (and fully dark haired). I wonder if it would be due to some vitamin deficiency. I've heard that that 24yo Austrian girl who was kept locked by her psycho father for her entire life had all her hair white when she was found, and it was, I suppose, mostly due to some nutritional deficiency. Or perhaps lack of sunbath.
