I was diognosed with Hypothyroid about 5 years ago and then diognosed with Celiac about 3 years ago. I have gone on a total gluten-free diet but the benifits have not came. I still have bad stomach issues and I am weak and tired at times. I'm younger so I know by body can do better then what its' doing. What should/could I do? Is it IBS too? I had an endoscopy to diognose the Celiac.

  • I suffered for years with Celiac cause I THOUGHT I was following the diet but in reality wasn't completely Gluten Free. Over 20 doctors couldn't figure it out. It didn't help that I was convinced I was following it.Do you eat ANYTHING processed? Have you eaten out anywhere? I was accidentally eating some of these, check http://gluteningredients.com/ if you aren't sure:Natural flavors (Gluten is natural after all)Hydrolyzed proteinsModified corn (or food) starch (you don't know what its modified with! or worse what sort of food)DextrimaltoseMaltMaltodextrinMonosodium Glutimate (MSG)ColoringsArtificial flavors (Could be anything)Caramel ColorDextrinsGravy CubesGround SpicesGlucose SyrupMustard Powder Soy sauceSmoke FlavoringStock Cubes (Bullion)Some VitaminsIt IS possible to be so damaged that you are non-responsive to the diet. Possible but really really really (add some more reallys) rare. Even if you think you are on the diet properly, try a week of extremely restricted diet and see if you improve. I finally had a Doctor put me on only plain homemade gluten free onion/cabbage soup for a week. I was totally sick of the soup by the end of the week but I went from being unable to walk from the pain to going out jogging in a week! then i found out modified corn starch and hydrolyzed stuff etc was Gluten. There may be something on the list you didn't know about.
