Getting a diagnosis

I am a 45 years old male who have been very healthy until the last few years. I worked out over the years and watch what I eat. Last year I had a lump removed from my neck and was tested for lymphoma. At the same time, I was hospitalized for a high Cpk level. My lymph nodes in the neck only increase now when I am getting sick (thats my indication that I am starting to get sick).

Since then I am constantly weak and my cpk level has steadily increased. I have seen the cardiologist, hemotologist, rhumatologist and the neurologist and all the test have come up normal except the cpk level.

My cpk level is now over 800 and I have been told when it gets over 1000 come back and they will do a muscle biopsis. Until then don't worry about the level.

Am I being overly concern with this level, or do you believe I should keep plugging to make someone listen.

  • My husband has had the same situation with the elevated CPK which did climb to almost 900. He has had several TIA's or light strokes in the past two years. He visited Cleveland Clinic and had a muscle biopsy as this can be a sign that the muscles have damage and the heart is your largest muscle. There was no damage to the muscle, the specialist said that some people just run higher in count - not to worry unless it went over the 1000 count. It has fluctuated from 250 up to the almost 900. He had a heart stint in July of last year. I would probably check with your cardiologist for your overall health report. Men of color or large frame men (the specialist also stated football players, intense sports can sometimes elevate this count) have a higher percentage of having this. I hope you get some answers. The testing was expensive however we felt we needed to confirm if there was damage or not. Good luck, God Bless.:)

  • Dab - how about plugging the ones that do not listen ? And how about going to a natural health pro that will look at things differently and perhaps have more insight and ability to help you / I feel most traditional docs do not look for real causes. If you really want to heal, the cause must be found and addressed appropriately. Yup, I am one of those wild, dangerous natural health docs.
