I'm very worried , my husband went to the doctor yesterday because of pain with urination plus pain and swelling in one of his testicles and a little bulge at base of penis. He was put on antibiotics and pain medication, now the swelling of both the testicle and the penis has doubled and hes in a lot of pain, its hard to get all symptoms in one cause can you help figure out what this could possible be?

  • There are lots of reasons for this. This is pretty technical, but here are the possibilities: http://en.diagnosispro.com/differential_diagnosis-for/scrotal-edema-swelling/24018-154.html

  • Could this be a vascular problem? Has he been examined by a vascular surgeon?

  • This is a most likely a bacterial infection and the bulge at the base of the penis is a positive inguinal lymph node. He needs to have a swab taken for the purpose of quickly cultering the bacteria to determine specificity. Certain antibiotics may be necessary to get the infection under control. Variocele and other conditions associated with testicular swelling or pain do not typically cause pain or burning on urination. It is unlikely to be testicular cancer simply because pain is always a late stage manifestation of such problems and other signs would have been present prior to his most recent symptoms.
