Hi there, I'm an 18 year old female and I get these pains in my hands, feet and knees. Not all at once, just one body part, and it usually happens every day. It happens a lot at night; almost every night, actually.
My mother has the same problem and so does her father and brother. I've had this all my life. My mother said she took me to doctors about it when I was little but was unable to get any answers.
The pain is not too severe, but at its worst it can be bad enough that I have to lie curled up in bed until it goes away.
Ibuprofen helps very well, but sometimes I worry that I may have health problems in the future because I take so much of it (two 200mg tablets per day on average).
It seems like if I don't take any type of painkiller then the pain won't go away. It may fade for a little while and then come back. I don't know how long it will last without taking anything. I've never let it go on without taking anything because it hurts too much; I carry ibuprofen with me everywhere.
I've tried several different kinds of arthritis cream and they work okay, but they don't keep the pain away like the ibuprofen does. Sometimes it will go away for a few minutes and then come back.
The last time I posted about this I got written off as having some kind of arthritis, but I really don't think that's what it is. It doesn't feel like the pain is in my joints, and there is no swelling, stiffness, or any other symptom. The pain is very hard to describe, but the closest description I can think of is sort of a burning feeling, but without any heat. People have also suggested fibromyalgia but I doubt that's what it is either.
I hope someone can give me ideas as to what this might be. I'm tired of it.
