My daughter got the gardasil vaccine about ten months ago and has been sick ever since. She started having a reaction within days of the injection and we've had a couple doctors confirm that it was from the vaccine, but the problem is no one knows how to help her. She has: chest pains, shortness of breath, general weakness and fatigue, muscle pains and weakness, night sweats, hairloss, loss of appetite, stomach pains, bloated, restless leg, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, light sensitivity, pins and needles, hand / leg weakness, severe headaches, itching with and without rash, strange swelling and a few others.
She has been tested for everything and noone knnows how to help her.can anyone think of any tests or treatment we should try? She was a normal healthy kid before all this, running about ten miles a day and know she has problems crossing the room!

I'm desperate!Please help!

  • I am very sorry for your situation. Recently my 21 year old daughter was diagnosed with a very serious and potentially life ending lung disorder. She took the first two Gardasil shots, then complained of severe cramps. muscle and joint pain, fatigue and other symptoms. I want to know if there are any lung related problems with your daughter. If so, how severe. Thank you. I am a very concerned parent.

  • Omg, I'm so sorry for everything you and your daughter are going through. When was your daughter diagnosed and how soon after the shots did her problems begin? I know that there are a lot of other girls that have had blood clots in their lungs, and so many have problems breathing because of something they have not put a name to, as well as other lung issues. The problem with all this is that the shot was not studied enough before it was put on the market, so even if noone else has had the exact same problem, it could still be caused by the shot, depending on other symtoms and timeframe of onset, etc. Have you discussed the relation of her illness to the shot with her doctors? My email is truthaboutgardasil on yahoo. Please email me directly. I am so very sorry for everything you are going through and my thoughts and prayers will be with you.

  • I wanted to let you know that I have found out that there are atleast two others that we know of, that have contracted rare lung diseases after getting the gardasil vaccine. have you been in contact with the CDC or reported this to VAERS? I am in contact with a group of mothers that are working together to try and find the answers we are all so desperately searching for, and are a great support for each other. I am here if you want to talk.

  • I wanted to reply to your message, because my little cousin has just gone through this. For months no one knew what was wrong with her. She has been diagnosed with Arnold Chiari Malformation - google it and you will be quite surprised to see how much of your own childs symptoms are similar. She had to have surgery yesterday on her brain stem.Weather or not this is a direct relation to the vaccine perhaps triggering this, is unclear. However both herself, and a fellow classmate have had these symptoms since receiving the Gardasil vaccine.I'll check back in if you have any questions.

  • I am sorry to hear about your children. My daughter was given the HPV vaccination and has now been diaganosed with ITP. Here platelet levels suddenly drop and she been admitted to the hospital twice due to the possiblity of bleeding, with a platelet level of 2. At the doctors will not admit that it is a side effect of the vaccine. She was perfectly healthy with not even so much as a cold before the vaccine was given. Now she is going to need to have a bone marrow scan because her platelet levels drop as soon as the medication is out of her system and they cannot explain why, when all other tests show everything is normal. this time around she also had jaundice and now is lactose intolerant after the IVIG medication. I just wish someone would admit or at least take some responsiblity for the children that are suddenly becoming seriously ill after the vaccination.

There are new questions being raised about an immunization given to teenage girls to prevent cervical cancer. More than 8,000 reports of side effects have now been reported from Gardasil. To date, the manufacturer, Merck and Co., has distributed over 16 million doses of Gardasil in the United States. Given the large number of doses distributed, it is expected that, by chance alone, serious adverse events and some deaths will be reported in this large population during the time period following vaccinations. Our monitoring and analysis of reports, including in-depth medical review, are designed to detect serious events that occur at rates greater than expected, compared to what would be expected by chance alone. VAERS receives reports of many events that occur following immunization. Some of these events may occur coincidentally during the time period following vaccination, while others may actually be caused by vaccination. In our analysis of VAERS data, we look for patterns of adverse events that may be plausibly linked to a vaccine. Such patterns of adverse events may require further study. As of June 30, 2008, there have been 9,749 VAERS reports of adverse events following Gardasil vaccination. Of these, 94% were classified as reports of non-serious events, and 6% as serious events. Non-Serious Reports (94% of total reports) Since Gardasil was approved, the great majority (94%) of adverse events reported to VAERS after receiving this vaccine have not been serious. These reports include syncope (fainting), pain at the injection site, headache, nausea and fever. Fainting is common after injections and vaccinations, especially in adolescents. Falls after syncope may sometimes cause serious injuries, such as head injuries, which can be prevented with simple steps, such as keeping the vaccinated person seated for up to 15 minutes after vaccination. FDA and CDC have taken steps to remind immunization providers about the recommendation that individuals be watched carefully for 15 minutes after vaccination to avoid potential injury from a fall. The vaccine's prescribing information was changed to include this information.

  • My daughter received her second gardasil vaccine one year after her first as she was away at college. Within four days, she had vaginal lesions, nausea, fever and a rash. She was diagnosed with herpes. 5 months later, she developed the same sypmtoms only this time she had lesions in her mouth, vaginal area and a rash on her legs and torso and a very high fever 104. After a few frustrating trips to the ER, she was given a spinal to check for meningitis. Turns out, she had aspetic meningitis causes by an autoimmune disease called Behcets syndrome. All herpes tests came back negative even though prior to this diagnosis, doctors were convinced it was herpes. I knew it wasn't. Behcets disease is genetic but needs a triggering event for it to manifest these symptoms. As far as I can tell, the triggering event was the Gardasil vaccine. My daughter was hospitilized for 5 days with excrutiating head pain and given morphine every 2 hours for pain. If you have any lesions in your mouth or vaginal area after taking gardasil, please see a rheumatologist asap

  • My 17 yr. old daughter received her first - and only - Gardasil shot on 4/23/09 and on 4/24/09 she began having dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain. As time has gone one, the worse her symptoms have gotten. She now has been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and that is getting worse where at times she cannot bear weight on her feet without screaming in pain. She had a first near fainting episode yesterday. We do have a Pediatric Neurologist that says that her symptoms are a direct result of the GardasilShe is on her second 8 day course of Prednisone which has helped the neuropathy pain.My heart goes out to all you moms and daughters!

  • Just read above comments posted. My 15 yr old daughter has recently experienced severe, similar symptoms. First presented with migraine-like severe headaches over past year. Starting about 6/11/09 additional symptoms included nausea, temp of 104.7 lasting days, 3 trips to ER, morphine IV's for severe pain, Major vaginal lesions, ulcers, extreme labia swelling, unable to walk, urination extremely painful. She has now seen over 24 different drs in gyn, internal med, infectious diseases, opthalmology and just yesterday finally Rheumatoid specialist. Diagnois of Behcet's -- Usually autoimmune is triggered by something and system doesn't shut off properly. In this case I think the possible trigger (after reading many posts and having this suspicion early on) IS GARDASIL VACCINE -- additionally stress.Behcet's is unknown cause/cure - possible genetic, however cannot find any genetic criteria she might meet within family. She has been on 10 different meds since this started in June, Prednisone seems to be reducing her symptoms significantly - She was previously in bed for 3 weeks as it was EXTREMELY PAINFUL for her to walk and urinate. With exception of Rheumatoid specialist, NONE of these doctors had seen anything like her Vaginal Ulcers -- Most all thot first Herpes, all STD tests were negative, her anti-body tests however came back positive. This has been excruciating to watch my daughter experience, it's amazing to see how almost overnite these ulcers developed. She will now require monthly visits for the time being to Rheumatoid specialist, re-checks every 4 months with Opthalmology, and very, very careful monitoring in many others areas.I would highly recommend to any of you in above posts with similar situations to think about seeing a Rheumatoid specialist.I sincerely wish you all the best in getting help - in the meantime I am going to make sure the FDA is alerted to possible Guardasil reaction.

  • Hi,my name is Lene Christensen, and I work as a journalist in Norways biggest newspaper. When the school starts in August, all girls aged 12 (in 7th grade) will be offered the Gardasil vaccine. I'm writing an article about the controversies surrounding Gardasil, and I'd like to get in touch with families with daughters who have negative experiences with this vaccine. The aim of the article is to give as much information as possible about Gardasil, so the parents will be better equipped as to make the choice of whether they should let their girls be vaccined or not. Please contact me on my e-mail: lene.christensen@vg.no or my cellphone +47 95912715. I'd really appreciate any help I can get. Best wishes, Lene

  • I am the concerned mother of a beautiful, talented eighteen year old daughter, who had two of the Gardisol vaccines. After the first vaccine in August, 2007, my daughter periodically complained of joint pain, mainly in her feet. At first, I thought is was related to an earlier ankle injury. We visited the dr. several times that year for unspecified joint pain, and my daughter stated that she thought she was getting arthritis. In August, 2008, we returned to the dr. with concerns re. stiffness/difficulty moving the toes and fingers. While we were there, my daughter requested the second shot in the series, as we had forgotten to go back for it during the recommended time period. The dr. said it would be fine for my daughter to have the vaccination, even though a year has passed. Two days after the second shot, my daughter called me to tell me she was unable to get out of bed and couldn't move. I hurried home to find that she had gotten out of bed, but it had taken her two hands to open the door, and I had to help her squeeze the toothpaste onto her toothbrush. Her joint pain was severe in many areas. At first, she was diagnosed with RND, but in November, 2008, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. There isn't any rheumatoid arthritis in our family that I am aware of. The arthritis is most severe in her feet, but other joints are also affected. We decided that she would not get the third vaccination in the series. This month, she had her first pap smear, and it showed abnormal cells, which will require further study. I am wondering if the vaccination could have caused this also, and I'm devastated that I didn't research this vaccine further before allowing her to receive it. I'm looking for a sense of direction from here....

  • Not even a month after my last Gardasil shot, I was 17 years old, I started experiencing symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis. After a year of severe joint pain , swelling, and fatigue I was finally diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was a completely healthy athlete with no family history of RA. I am starting to see more and more stories just like mine.. I now have to take a shot of Enbrel once a week to keep it under control. I blame Gardasil.

  • My roommate and good friend experienced the exact same symptoms shortly after recieving the second gradasil shot. I lived with her the year before her second gardasil shot and the year after and the 2 years were like night and day. The first year she was happy and exceptionally healthy. The second year, immediately following her second gardasil shot, she struggled to get out of bed because of joint pain in all of her joints, she ran a fever almost constantly, I would hear her crying in her sleep, she lost weight, and was put on large doses of steroids to control the inflamation the DRs attributed to Rheumatoid Arthiritis. If you are researching this vaccine for yourself or someone else, please take note of this story and others. Cervical cancer is one of the slowest growing and easily treated cancers out there, particularly for Americans. I'm all for vaccinations that have benefits that outweigh the risks but this is not one of those. I will continue to get regular pap smears and practice safe sex, but you will not find me anywhere near the second gardasil shot i'm long overdue for.

  • Many young girls have had serious adverse effects after receiviing the Gardasil HPV Vaccine. Mother's, please file your daughter's cases in VAERS. This is the database that the government uses to access vaccines for problems and if the doctors do not file the cases, the numbers will be understated and no one will realize how serious the problem is.Please go to WWW.TRUTHABOUTGARDASIL.ORG to read stories of the girls injured or killed by this vaccine.Investigate before you vaccinate. The life you save may be your child's.Rosemary Mathis
