Gallstones during pregnancy

I've been having periodic pain in my upper right abdomen, just under my breast. At my OB's office yesterday, I mentioned the pain and moderate itching I've had on my arms and upper legs. The dr said it is probably gallstones, and I may have to have my gall bladder removed after having my baby. He recommended to just avoid fatty and fried foods. I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant.

Of the symptoms of gallstones, I've had the nausea (no vomiting), heartburn, gray-ish colored stools, along with the pain and itching, but no fever or signs of jaundice. I am worried that waiting to treat this will have a detrimental effect on myself or my child. Should I be going to another type of doctor to have this monitored?

Thank you for any advice.
