Since birth, my baby has had several pnemonias and no doctor seems to be able to stop them or explain why. My baby is always full of mucus. He coughs up the mucus and quite often ends up pucking up his feeds. He is under weight, as been diognosed with rickits. We are awaiting further genetic testing...so far all has come back normal. (high arch, sub-mucus palet and a mild bifid uvula - midline defects).
For months i would take him to our family doctor and explain his excessive mucus and frequent vomiting. Finally around 7 mths of age...they did a chest xray and found that he had pnemonia. Since then he has had several confirmed pnemonias but no one can explain why. Recently he has received a G Tube that was to help with the problem...however, it has not helped at all. My baby is fine when his is on antibiotics but once he has been off them for a week or so...boom, we are back into the hospital very sick.
He's had several nucular med. tests, barium swallow tests to rule out aspiration/reflux. All of these test have no evidence of aspiration causing the repeated pnemonias. He's recently had a CT Scan on lungs, we are waiting to see if possible problem with lungs themselves.
If anyone who has a child with any of these sort of problems, please please help us out. We are desparite.
