My 6 year old daughter throws up nearly every day for no aparent reason. She has dealt with this since she was 3 months old and has been to the doctors more than 100 times trying to find out why. I have heard every thing from acid reflux to upside down and inside out stomache. In the end nothing has been diagnosed only many theories. She has been through the acid reflux test and the pediactric GI said there is no sign she ever had it tho she was on liquid prevacid/zantac and reglin as an infant. The vomiting wasnt as severe while on those medications but it didnt completely go away either. Now she cant even take those meds since she is ADHA and the doctor said the med combo would cause her to have hilussinations. I am at a loss as to what is the cause of her vomiting and it breaks my heart to see her get sick nearly every day. She has times when she is afraid to eat .If she gets a stomache virus it puts her in the hospital because she then vomites so hard that she busts vessels in her throat and stomache and has an alarming amount of blood in her vomit and her bowel movements. She also tends to run small fevers off and on for no reason then a few minutes later she is fine and other times she stays sick for a few hours becomming lethargic then all the sudden is fine . These issues are documented at a hospital doctors have seen it yet they seem to have no ideas why this happens to her. Can anyone please help me figure out whats wrong with my baby girl? I am getting very scared that she will have terrible problems when she gets older if I cant find out whats wrong soon.

  • Yes we live in Washinton state and the city I live in there are cell towers everywhere. No she hasnt been tested for lyme. I have an appointment for her new doctor tomarrow and welcome any suggestions to bring to him .Thank you for your input!:)

  • First of all, i wouldn't even consider lyme or towers or watever that has been posted on all the threads on this site, which makes no sense because everyone has different symptoms. :( Has anyone tested her for celiac? Or have you ever tried a gluten free diet?

  • Also, what did you say she had ADHA, did you mean ADHD or is that something else?

  • Sorry she has ADHD I am not very good at typing lol.No she hasent been tested for those the doctors have been focused mainly on stuff like acid reflux it seems to keep going back to that even though they said she doesnt have it and the prediatric gi specialist said it doesnt look like she ever had it.

  • It's ok I intend to take any and all suggestions to her doctor tomarrow and see what we can come up with if anything. Thank you both for your input. There is one other thing I am not sure if it's also a symptom of whats wrong with her or something entirely different. She has hypersensative hearing and has to wear misicians ear plugs to filter some of the noise because it hurts her to hear even phones ringing and toilettes flushing. The hearing specialist didnt give me any causes to her hearing issue.

  • I talked to a friend on the phone a few minutes ago and she said to have her checked for nerve damage in her stomache. Does anyone know anything about what could cause that and what they symptoms are. I mean I know about gastroperesis and thats generally related to diabetes but she doesnt have diabetes. My friend is very persistant that she thinks it is probably stomache nerve damage but I am not very good with computers and I dont know what I am doing wrong but the only thing I find on the net about it is gastroperesis and I cant seem to find anyuthing about anyone having it and not diabetes as well.

  • I apologize if i sounded mean, i just felt that some people may be wasting time chasing dead ends unnecesarily, because often times people make suggestions that don't match any of the symptoms. By the way I am a girl.:)

  • Do you live near Seattle? If so, then one of the best TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) schools is located there. I think this may really help with your daughter's symptoms. Consider that a food intolerance or allergy is causing her symptoms. You say she vomits EVERY day - is it the same time of the day or at different times? More than once a day? What foods does she eat? What foods if any does she crave? Please consider an alternative approach to helping your daughter. A good naturopath, kinesiologist, chiropractor, or Oriental medical practitioner may really help. Best wishesDOM

  • We live like 300 miles from Seattle and we dont have any money so travel is out of the question unless we have something definate to go on. She has been tested for all kinds of allergies because I have several allergies and she only has 1 food allergy wich is to brazil nuts and I am careful not to let anything with even a hint of brazil nuts in the house since her allergy to them is anaphalactic and requiers the use of an epi pen. It varies in time when she gets sick and it doesnt seem to matter what type of food she is eating. I have seen her get sick even when she hasent eaten for several hours so I am not convined it's food related in any way. It doesnt seem to have any type of pattern thats why i'm so confused and scared. If it had a pattern then we would at least have something to go on or if a certain type of food seems to be the cause but none of those seem to play a role in whats going on with her. We went to her doctors yesterday and yet again he went the route of acid reflux and is going to make her do yet another barium swallow tho she has been tested before and found not to have acid reflux. I di however convince him that if (when) the test shows she doesnt have acid reflux to do tests for other problems like nerve damage and to do some research in possible health conditiond and birth defects that could be causeing this. He was reluctant but finally agreed. I am at a total loss since this will be the 3rd time they have checked her for acid reflux with 2 different types of tests now.:(

  • You said something about her hearing... It could have to do with that, like inner ear. You know how you get nauseated like if you have an inner ear blockage or infection? What if there's a link between her hearing and her vomiting from nausea?

What if there's a link between her hearing and her vomiting from nausea?I am not sure what the problem was but it seems to have just stopped. She is 8 now and it stopped about 7 months ago. It is weird and now her doctor is convinced she was making herself sick. I would like to know how he can think she made herself sick when she would wake up out of a dead sleep vomiting or how she made herself sick when she was just an infant but whatever. It seems we may never know what the problem was. She still can't seem to gain much weight though. She only weighs 50 lbs. Her hearing is not as sensative as it used to be so maybe you were onto something that we were all over looking. I don't know but I am glad it's over now. Thank you everyone who replied and tried to help. Sorry I didn't post sooner I guess life just carried me away so to speak.

  • I am wondering if any of the doctors ever considered a rare type of seizure disoder. It's very difficult to diagnose. Well, she sounds she is doing much better and maybe need to grow a bit. But, with ADHD, their are also misdiagnosis and you may want to watch out for a tic or seizure disorder if she should develope new symptoms. Also, make sure the school does yearly hearing assessments and brings in an audiologist if she fails the annual testing. She would qualify for special education if she is not doing grade level work under the category of Other Health Impairment due to the aDHD, unless she also has a hearing disability, which you should know by now. I don't think babies make themselves vomit--but she could have learned that as a way to control others.

In my 30s I vomited almost every night after supper. I later put two and two together. I stopped eating any gluten and I stopped vomiting. Years later it tried to eat gluten again and the vomiting started again. I also do not tolerate dairy well even though the food allergy testing did not show I was allergic or sensitive to dairy. Try putting your daughter on a very strict diet of chicken or turkey, the lower allergen fruits and veggies for a week or two and see if she does better. if so, gradually add one food a week and watch for reactions and vomiting. This diet is hard, but worth it if it help hers. Also there is not much cost in trying this. Good luck with finding answers. We went through something similar with our grandson and found out he had gluten and dairy issues. Does anyone else have trouble with certian foods in the extended family? I would certainly eliminate those foods from her diet too.

She went through a behavior program at a local hospital because her AHDH and other behavioral had her acting out of control.Siezures was a concern of theirs, however the test which lasted 25 hours revealed nothing new. I still have to watch her for signs of seizure just in case it just happened to be a good day for her during the test. She does receive many services at school because she is also mildly DD.She has annual hearing screenings both at school and at her regular doctor. We are diligent about that because she has hyper sensative hearing and has had to wear special ear plugs to filter the frequency and pitch of noises so they would not hurt her ears.I am now attempting to get her tested for a form of autism that fits nearly all of the problems she has had as well as the ones she still has. Again I want to thank everyone who has replied to my posts. I was so completely lost when I originally posted on here and would cry every night till I fell asleep because I felt so helpless and as if I had some how done something wrong during my pregnancy.
