Hello,I found this website purely by chance and am seeking help.

For years I had a very bad painful mouth, really bad sores and horrible patterns in it.These were put down to trush only....it wasn't at all. I saw a specialist and then still he could only rule out what it was not.
I was then given Vitamin B12 injections for many months, again I am not sure why but the doctor at the time (who was very caring) told me I should carry on taking the injections as a precaution.
During this time ive suffered from anxiety, depression and "male problems"....since then iv'e turned my life around and become very healthy,a great diet and a positive attitude, not to mention keeping busy.

So anyone would think ive overcome my problems?

Sadly not,I know im doing and have done everything I can for the past year or so (everytihng the doctor ordered) but I still have these problems, and not only that my left foot is now suffering from what im guessing is drop foot.I get complete numbness in it for about 18 or so hours after running, and slight numbness from waking (so most days) its gotten to a point where my foot actually drags unless as I go up the stairs. Its been going on for about 2 years but recently has gotten alot worse (i.e alot longer)

Im at a wits end because since getting mis diagnosed and just passed from one doctor to another they dont seem to take anything I say seriously.IM only in my 20's and very healthy in myself.

If anyone can help id really appreciate it,ive included below a sort of time scale and symptoms:

2 years ago - ongoing : Sores inside on tongue, white patterns but NOT thrush!
2 years ago - ongoing : Doctor seems to think theres a problem with my B12
2 years ago - ongoing : "Male problems" loss of desire, erection problems.
1+1/2 years ago - ongoing: Anxiety and depression to which ive been taking anti depps and been alot better in that respect.
1+1/2 years ago - ongoing : Drop foot problems tho recently ALOT worse.

To put this in a nutshell,im alot better mentally as in my mood, but these problems above havn't been sorted or been diagnosed as a problem as such.

Any help or any linking together as I realise alot of this can be put down to nerves would be helpful,Many thanks.

  • First of all, have you seen a neurologist to rule out any serious neurological conditions? Have you been tested for Guillain-Barre? It can present itself in similar ways to B12 deficiency. Also, you had mentioned that the sores are not thrush. I know there is speculation that low Vitamin B-12 can cause thrush, but if you don't have thrush that is probably why the B-12 injections aren't really helping. Has a dentist ever looked at the patches inside your mouth? They may be able to better diagnose what they are (such as leukoplakia). Best of luck.

My doctors in the past have seemed reluctant to even see whats wrong with me,let alone treat a problem.I woul to be honest want to have a neuro test just to my mind at ease but my sister had to wait about 7 months. That in itself is a worry. A dentist looked inside my mouth as well a mouth specialist, they just said theres no problem,I have a healthy mouth.....when I said about the holes in my tongue they said not to worry as its not serious, that isn't the point when it hurts and is sore but nothing can be done for it.Im not saying all my symptoms are linked, but it just seems strange I have had all these little things and some of more concern. I Just had a look at Guillain-Barre but this has been going on for around 2 years, from what ive read that disease is a short term thing?

  • You need to see a neurologist about the foot issue. It could be a compressed nerve or something else entirely but you are going to need to be seen. If you have chronic compartment syndrome then you are going to either need to stop doing the activity (running) or have a fasciotomy of the involved fascia. either way, a doctor needs to see it - ideally just after exercise when it is occuring.

I have recently been told that I have what is called Vasculitis, an auto-immune disease which can cause many horrible problems, two of which you seem to have also. I have "foot drop" in both of my feet and also have no feeling from the ankle down. Both feet and ankles are swollen and have been so for the past three months. I have pain in both feet despite the fact that they are numb and also experience pin and needles sensations now and then. I also have oral thrush inside my mouth which is another symptom of the disease I have, Vasculitis. Anyway, I just figured I would respond to your post. Not sure if you will see this since you wrote a couple of years ago however I thought if you did, it could possible help you with your search for answers. Good luck.
