My mother has been suffering from fever for one month and dry cough for 20 days. she also developed some sort of ulceration over her tongue and buccal wall few days ago. her oral temperature ranges from 99.5 to 101 degree F. Investigations: wbc-12.83 K/micro L, neutrophil-8.72 K/micro L, lymphocyte-2.82 K/ micro L, monocyte-.77 K/ micro L, eosinophil-.51 K/micro L, ESR- 61 mm in 1st hour (westergreen), Platelets-440.00 K/micro L, Hb12.10 gm/dl, cxr p/a-normal findings, ANA- negative, Blood film- normal findings, Urine routine exam- normal findings, ultrasonogram of whole abdomen- normal findings. She was first treated with Azithromycin 1 gm daily for five days, then sparfloxacin 200 mg for 10 days (400 mg on first day). but no improvement occured of her fever and cough. she was in middle east for 7 months and returned home 2 months ago. please give me some suggestions about her disease.
