Please be mature about this.
Something wrong has happened to that area. It looks brown and dry now.
It looks like the skin has detached from the flesh.
I donno what to do. I know I should see a doctor but please gimme an idea of what is wrong. It looks like that area is totally dead.
Please help.

Do you have any other chromic or acute health issues...or take any routine daily medications? When you say "It looks brown and dry now. It looks like the skin has detached from the flesh." The color prior to this development was a healthy pink? Is there actual tissue shedding from your labia/vagina?I apologize for appearing crass but...have you ever had unprotected intercourse? Ever been diagnosed with/treated for a sexually transmitted infection? Are you currently sexually active?Best regards,John

  • I just turned 18 and I am still a virgin, this occurred over around a week now.Yes it was pink and there's no shedding of skin.I feel too embarrassed going to a gyno or talkin to my mom about this. What that area looks like is mushy. When you pull the skin, it does not go back to it's place like a stretch. Is there anyway to restore it? Say, certain exercise ..? I pinched those areas, coz it gave me a sense that it died (Well I donno how else to describe, that's how I see it and I freaked out) but the pinch can be felt.

Life is sort enough without fast-forwarding almost 20 years! So this change happened approximately a week or so ago? Did the color darken gradually or was it an "overnight", if you will, change? Has there been any increase in either the size or protrusion of your labia? It is definitely a good sign that you haven't experienced a loss of feeling/sensation. When you say "When you pull the skin, it does not go back to it's place like a stretch"...does it return to its place very slowly or not at all? Do you drink a good amount of fluids daily? If you pinch up the skin on your forearm, does it return to it's place right away or is it delayed? (I know doing that to your arm sounds kinda crazy but it's a good way to see how well hydrated you are.)A certain amount of darkening of the labia...both outer and inner...and also the vaginal walls is normal and not a concerning health problem. If you don't have a labial/vaginal inflammatory condition going on, you may benefit from doing daily Kegel exercises to improve tone. They're pretty easy to do and don't require a lot of time. Here's a link with some good information:http://www.rickmd.com/kegelex.htmBest,John

It must have happened over a time and not overnight. It kinda is a bit stretched out, not realli increase in size. When i pull the skin, it does go back but at a veri slow pace, veri slow. Well I did the forearm and it went back normalli. I do drink a lot of fluids daili. I'm crazey for fruits and juices. But water maybe just a bottle a day or nothing at all. Well, I started gym and I'm hopping that it will help tone up my body even in that area. I donno if it will work and Thank you for referring those exercises. I will try them out for a couple of weeks and get back with the results. Thanks again!Sam =)

  • I'm gonna go out on a limb and just say..see a doctor sweetie. It may be something very simple. At 18 your body is raging with hormones and you will experiences several changes a day, but that sort of change seems quite dramatic and a change that may need a professional opinion. Never be embarrased when it comes to protecting your body, that starts with getting help to making sure he always uses a condom (I know, not the advice the signed up for, but for a girl who, in her 33 years had dated not 1 but 2 guys with HIV (without knowing it) and lived to tell the tale, I must speak my peace).good luck

Maybe we're all lost in "personal" space!! Help!!Be well!! John

They don't mention the valva region. And about the rest of your Q. I have no idea =D I never had problems in that area until this happened. So I started researching, I never knew they wear called valva, labia and so on ?!?. I can't talk to anyone about this since I'm not open about this subject, waiting for my license so I can go off for full body check.A Question, losing virginity does not necessarili mean breaking of the hymen wall because I read that even non-sexual activities can cause it's breakage. So how do we know if the wall is broken? If the answer is obvious, don't tease me! Sam

  • me37- you say it is brown and dry.. could it be a scab? You may have itched yourself in your sleep and your nails took the skin off and now it's healing.Have you recently had thrush? Maybe your skin reacts to polyester? Maybe try getting some cotton underwear and see if that helps :)Take care

  • I'm afraid your can't shorten your labia through exercise. If it's hanging lower than normal it would be hormonal and that is just how your anatomy looks now that your body has developed.Your hymen could break from tampons and foreplay that involves entering the vagina, but even so, your labia doesn't change from that.

I e-mailed a specialist about this and she said the same thing you did and that it's normal. She even linked me a few sites about different forms of a labia. Well, I guess I have to live with it and man will it be a turn off during my first time. *sigh*Oh well,Peace and love everyone.Sam

  • I am now 40, but I had a hysterectomy in my early 20's. I had alot of hormonal problems and had the same problem you describe. I would go to an OB/GYN and have them check you out and they should do bloodwork to check your hormone levels. They could be out of whack. My ovaries were not producing the correct amount of estrogen, etc. Good luck!Stephanie

I had that for a couple of days and now I don't know if it dissappeared or just got dislocated. It wasn't visible but I could feel it inside the labia.Did everything go back to normal for you later after your check up?Thnks,Sam

  • Hey Sam,I have a suggestion (other than going to an gyno, which is great advice)why don't you google vagina and look at lots of images of women's labia's to see if it does look "normal".It may not look normal for you and it may have changed, but it doesn't mean there is anything wrong per say.A woman's labia can hang low as she matures :)

Did everything go back to normal for you later after your check up? Thnks,Sam I have problems now with that but it's still because my hormones are out of whack again and because I am in what they call perimenopause. I still have my ovaries but they just don't produce enough estrogen. This effects the elasticity in that area. I don't think the color changed but the dry or shriveled look did get better. I know there is a type of cyst that can occasionally occur and then go away on it's own. I will try to find the name of it and post it later. Go on to a doctor. Really should be going to one at your age anyway. Make sure you mention the "ball" which was most likely a type of cyst. The lack of elasticity could be hormones and the sooner you get that checked the better. Hormones can effect alot of things. I know it's embarrassing to talk about things with your doctor or mom. My mom worked for my doctor so she knew everything anyway. I was and still am embarrassed! You just have to remember that it's your health and so it's important to tell them everything. I guarantee they see/hear this kind of thing all the time and should understand your embarrassment. As far as the hymen being broken, even using tampons can cause that. It's not always through sex. Certain exercises can even cause it. I don't think that is anything to be worried about. I would see the doctor asap for the other and for a routine checkup! Stephanie
