Hey guys! Its a long story but bear with it please. I really need some good advice.

I have just turned 20 and have been suffering of anorexia nervosa since I was 14.
For the past two years on and off I have been experiencing very similar symptoms to adrenal fatigue, however in my blood tests done at my GPs I have had everything come back normal.
The symptoms started after a period of extreme starvation and over exercise due to my long term eating disorder, this was counteracted by a period of massive rebound hunger and fatigue. This lasted about 6 months until I got better.
Then for around 9 months I lived a normal life, I had a job was eating fine etc, it was like my body had rebalanced itself.

Then in early march 2014 having suffered a loss of my grandma I suddenly started to reduce my calories and up my exercise again. Please note this was no where near as extreme as last time. My weight was 9st 4 lbs at 5ft 4 inch, and no matter what I did I couldn't lose weight from that point.
One night I felt sick and the next day I experienced another rebound hunger and fatigue. The hunger tapered down however at the present I have an inability to feel full, despite not overeating.
The fatigue however is horrendous, I can barely get out of bed.

I am usually a very active person and a personal trainer. I am now starting to think there is a more serious problem with my health.
Having trailed from doctor to doctor who just tell me to go and see a psychologist or ‘its all in your head’ I am now at a point of extreme frustration.
I know my problem is physical, how is it that a 19 year old who can go to the gym 5 times a week 2 hours each time suddenly one day cannot get out of bed and can’t feel full. It has been suggested by a top eating disorders nutritionist to me that I may be suffering from hormone imbalances or thyroid problems. However your average endocrinologist cannot pick up on what the cause is of such an unusual case.

If you feel you could help, I would like to send you some more extensive information about my medical problem and history. I feel that the medical professionals so far have not done anywhere near enough to discover why I am feeling so poorly.

Anybody got any ideas?
At present my physical symptoms are very similar to those of adrenal fatigue, or thyroid problems. These can be brought on through eating disorders

  • Have you had a CT of abdomen or 3T MRI? A 3T MRI is a newer MRI that shows a clearer picture of internal structures. If you do have an adrenal problem, such as an adenoma (benign tumor), it should be detected with either a CT or 3T. Many adrenal tumors are benign & blood tests don't always detect a deficiency - mine didn't.
