I recently underwent a pelvic ultra sound and the report says 'fatty deposits in the liver'..what does that mean and what can it turn into...The doc says that there is nothing to worry

  • Fat in the liver can be caused by many things but the main reasons are too much regular alcohol consumption and being overweight. Sometimes people with fat in the liver are not at risk from either of these reasons. In other words, some people with fat in their liver are neither overweight or drink alcohol.Fat in the liver itself is not harmful, however if left unchecked it has been shown it can lead to inflammation and fibrosis. Dr's are generally more aware of this now. when I was first diagnosed with fatty liver 7 years ago I was told it's only fat, ot doesn't do any harm. After 6 years and a biopsy it showed fatty liver disease with fibrosis.Personally, I think it's important to find out why you have fat in your liver so you can work on a program to rid yourself of it. This is just my opinion, I'm no Dr but I would at least ask your Dr why he thinks you have fat in your liver.
