Hello, Im a 19 year old guy with a few problems.

Ill start with my symptoms and then explain them:

-Fatigue, almost severe drowsiness in certain situations
-Dry skin, resulting in moderate dandruff and occasional flaky arms
-Occasional feel of pressure in eyes (Allergies?)
-Occasional constipation, or diahrrea when under stress
-Dark rings under eyes, especially dark near the nose, less as it goes to the temples, perhaps slightly sunken as well
-A feeling of dehydration, mouth and throat often dry

-The fatigue Im somewhat used to, and could easily be caused by nothing besides the few hours of sleep I give myself. It seems a bit worse lately though. If I dont keep myself busy in a classroom, Ill almost uncontrollably fall sleep sitting up. I have a hard time concentrating while not feeling "alert."

-The dry skin and constipation or diahrrea Ive had since I was young

-What Ive recently been experiencing is the pressure in the eyes, the dark rings, and the feelings of dehydration. The dark rings Im especially bothered by. I havent even hit the age of 20, and yet I have this look like Im some sort of drug addict. Now I figured this was because of my lack of sleep, though why would it act up so quickly and noticeably after all these years?

-As far as the dehydration, its odd to me, since I have been drinking more water lately. I used to just drink gatorade, sodas, or something else that is flavored. I stopped and started drinking water instead, around 2-3 bottles of water and a cup of fruit juice in the morning. Im suspecting that isnt enough water, that I should drink one or two more bottles. It seems to act up especially when I try to go to sleep. (I end up having to drink a quarter of a water bottle so that my dry throat wont keep me from falling asleep)

Im working on getting more sleep and drinking more water, though if these symptomes together signal something, Id appreciate hearing about it.

  • Dry skin and constipation could certainly be caused by dehydration. Dry skin, constipation and fatigue combined could be hypothyroidism. The dark circles under your eyes could be genetical... my father has them and so I get them on occasion. But they could also be "allergic shiners" as well. Pressure or dryness in the eye can be an indication of something like glaucoma. Just my sorta two cents. :) HTH!

  • Dark circles under the eye can indicate s a problem with blood circulation. Because there is so little skin in that area, it's the first to reflect problems like that.

  • I have Pellagra and a lot of the symptoms you described are associated with my disease so please make sure you are getting enough Niacin because you really don't want to get this. It's a pretty rare disease. I got it because I was malnutritious for about 14 years when I was growing up. But you can get it from just not eating the right foods. I'm about 3 years into the disease. Look it up and make sure that you don't have Pellagra.

  • Personally I have all those symptoms and more. I have Dermatomyositis, Sjrogren's Syndrome, Psoriasis, and Sleep Apnea. However I am not 19 years old, I am 55 years old. Symptoms started appearing gradually over the past 8 years and it was not until two years ago I was first diagnosed with Polymyositis, which changed to Dermatomyositis. Shortly after I was diagnosed with Sjrogrens, Psoriasis, Sleep Apnea, and GERD. The DM, Sjrogren's, and Psoriasis are all Autoimmune Rheumatic Diseases with no cure, only treatment. DM is often associated with various cancers. Now that I scared the heck out of you. Go see a Rheumatologist and get a complete physical, at 19 you should not feel like you do. Most general practioners are not familiar with rheumatic skin disorders. Save your self some stress and see the specialist. I will only warn you I went through a lot before I was properly diagnosed and the treatment is expensive, if you are let the situation get worse. You don't die from DM and Sjrogren's, you most likely will die of cancer, heart attack, lung disease etc... that is caused by the diseases. If you are diagnosed visit official sites like the MDA, Rheumatology, Myositis sites. Don't count on your specialist knowing everything either, they have learned a lot from me. Less than 10,000 Americans have DM where both the muscles, organs, and skin are all affected at the same time by the inflamation etc... Sjrogrens is in the millions.Good LuckBM Hello, Im a 19 year old guy with a few problems.Ill start with my symptoms and then explain them:-Fatigue, almost severe drowsiness in certain situations-Dry skin, resulting in moderate dandruff and occasional flaky arms-Occasional feel of pressure in eyes (Allergies?)-Occasional constipation, or diahrrea when under stress-Dark rings under eyes, especially dark near the nose, less as it goes to the temples, perhaps slightly sunken as well-A feeling of dehydration, mouth and throat often dry-The fatigue Im somewhat used to, and could easily be caused by nothing besides the few hours of sleep I give myself.
