hi
im now at the end of my tether with my recurring ailment and hoping someone out there can help me please.....ok where do i start...my problem is that i get these pains on my head and face which always ends with me getting a gum and throat infection and its always on the right side of my head.
I'll try explaining in more detail, I get pain in my eye, ear and skin and the skin is very tender and painful to the touch from my scalp to my neck, eventually when the pain subsides in around 2 days im left with the gum infection and painful glands which then lasts around 5 days and is very painful especially my gum...The gum is very red in areas around my back teeth and sometimes little white blisters appear...I have had numerous appointments with ent and dental experts but with no diagnosis....although one doctor said he thinks my condition is down to a dormant chicken pox virus that now and again raises its head and effects me in the way i have explained....and thats why im sending this threat hoping someone can confirm or even give me a new diagnosis on my condition....thank you to anyone who can help...

  • have they done any blood testing? do you have any gastrointestinal trouble? when you say you eye, ear and scalp hurt, can you describe the pain? Is your eye pain a burning or like inside/behind your eye? Does you scalp hurt like it's bruised or does it kind of itchy hurt like a fly bite? Does your ear hurt on the outside or the inside? Does it feel full or itch? Do the mouth bumps hurt or itch or are they just there? Do they have fluid in them or are they hard?

  • hi lizzie thanks for your reply.....the pain in my eye is behind the eye a sharp throbbing pain, the pain in my ear is deep inside the ear and the tender/painful skin is painful to the fingertip touch as if in the nerve endings......The mouth sores that i get are always on the gum around the top back teeth mostly behind the teeth on the right side of my mouth,it gets very red and painful, the white bits that develop on my gum are not blisters or bumps but smooth although the gum around the teeth does swell up ....teeth brushing becomes very painful around that area and does bleed if in contact with brushing, then after around 5 or 6 days clears up totally until another time then the same thing occurs..have you experienced any of these symptoms or heard of them before.....again thanks for your reply

  • OK so 2 things:1. your ENT could be right in which case a drug like Valtrex should get rid of it and keep the outbreaks at bay. Ask him about it and if he says no ask him why.2. He could be wrong and it could be an infection that is engaging the optic nerve meaning it needs to be treated quickly. See if you can get a second opinion. Are you near the NYC area? I'll send you to my ENT if yes.

  • I agree it could be a deep viral or bacterial infection that is coming out to the surface. Or, it could be an allergic reaction to food, drink, or other... Do you use a cell phone or headset on your right side? Do you have any history of allergies/hay fever/sinus problems? Have you ever had sinusitis? Have you ever taken courses of antibiotics long term? What foods do you eat daily? It may be helpful to keep a detailed food diary for a month or so - you will need to meticulously detail everything you eat and drink. There may be a pattern that manifests connecting certain things to these outbreaks. I have suffered from multiple food allergies, and notice certain foods give me problems. I once developed a bad mouth ulcer near the gums after eating fresh garden tomatoes. NAET is an allergy elimination technique that helped to treat my allergies. Within hours of having a NAET treatment for tomatoes, I found my ulcer completely subsided! Best wishesDOM
