Hi,

For the last approx. 6 weeks I have been suffering from extreme tirdeness. This involves, achey muscles, complete lack of focus, and over 14 hours sleep a night - yet I am still tired when I wake.

Also, I have been suffering from head aches at the back/top of my neck.

Any help at all would be much appreciated so I can finally function as a normal person again,

Thanks,

Jenna

  • I know there are other diseases with these types of symptoms but I have fibromyalgia, and these are the primary symptoms. I started with those symptoms and over time developed several others. Most of us describe the lack of concentration as "fibro fog"; we describe the feeling we wake in the morning with as "like I was run over by a truck"; and the headaches caused by tension which is also in the upper back, mainly shoulder area usually occur several days of the month. There is a tender (or trigger) point chart which you can find on the internet and bring to your doctor to ask him for a diagnosis. It is a chronic illness in the rheumatic category which has increasing and decreasing severity depending on enviromental (strong perfume, change of seasons) and general life stresses (which could be something as small as cooking a large dinner for family).

  • i hope you dont have that..but those symptoms could be the beginning symptoms of CFS also known as CFIDS .. to be diagnosed with it thou, one has to have the symptoms ongoing for 6 mths. If you've been to doctors and been tested for everything and a cause cant be found.. it is probably likely that you do actually have CFS. (if its something else.. the symptoms should just go away after a little more time). Take care thou.. as if you are at the beginning stages of CFS... pushing oneself (to exercise or whatever which many doctors who dont really know much about CFS often will tell someone to try to do) will probably the CFS much worst. If you start getting more than just achy muscles... eg all over pain and bone pain as well... i'd say it could also be likely that you could have Fibromyalgia (but from your symptoms it does sound more like CFS due to the amount you say you are sleeping, ones with CFS thou often get Fibromyalgia).

  • Also get your thyroid tested to rule out hypothyroidism.
