i am a 38 year old woman who for the last two years has been taking a range of medication for extreme lower back pain, i am currently taking tramadol 250mg td, duloxetine 60mg once daily, fentanyl patches 50mcg and carbomazapine 100mg 2 tabs 4td. the cause of the pain has never been found and it causes me to be unable to walk long distances for which i have had to buy a wheelchair, and when lying down or sitting for a period of time i loose feeling in all parts below the waist. Last year i started to have numbness in my hands which causes me to drop things and makes me unable to carry anything much, for this i was told that it was just one of those things and to learn to cope with it. This winter i have started to get very stiff painful joints through out my body and have had several blood tests for this for arthritis but they have all come back within normal ranges and my gp is sure it could be arthritis but cannot refer me without the tests coming back abnormal and to cope with it until such time and that he will increase my pain medication if necessary, he also thinks that the pain in my back may be related. It is very on going and getting unbearable and im getting so fed up with being told just to cope with these things without really knowing what is causing the problems i have. It obviously having an effect on my family life as i am a mother of 4 but my wife is ending up caring for them and me as i need help with bathing and dressing etc. Could anyone help with any information or ideas to assist with coping with the pain and numbness so that i can at least help to look after our family.
