I am a 17 year old female. I have Gastritis. I've had a Colonoscopy as well as an Endoscopy. And the doctors still have no idea what's wrong with me, but they aren't taking me seriously. I suffer through extreme pain every time I have a bowel movement. There is also bright red blood that goes along with the pain. I've had this problem for over a year and it hasn't improved. I've noticed that it is excessively worse during my mestrual cycles. There is obviously something wrong; no one should suffer through pain like this normally. I've searched online and have yet to find anything familar to my symptoms.. Any ideas? Anything helps, thanks.

  • Maybe endometriosis?Do your parents know about this? You MUST find a dr who believes you and gets you a diagnosis. I know its hard, since I haven't been feeling well and can't get a diagnosis either. I can't even begin to count how many drs I've seen.

My doctor is still attempting to figure out what's happening, but just says "Sometimes things like this happen, and we don't know why, and you just have to deal with it and hope it goes away someday". I have to keep trying though, I know in my heart that something isn't right. I have one more test before he kind of gives up. I have a Pill Cam test at the end of the month. Thank you for the comment, I'll look up endometriosis right now. I hope you can find a diagnosis soon!

  • If you don't get a diagnosis with this doctor, go to another doctor. If no luck with the second doctor, go to a third, and so on.Doctors are human, just like the rest of us. They don't always understand or have all of the answers.Until you get a diagnosis, you may try taking Psyllium. It may be beneficial.

  • Where is the pain situated?I found at one point that a rather difficult bowel movement caused a tear along the opening that healed wrong, now almost every time I go it hurts and bleeds. If the pain is further up, I'm not sure. Wish i could help :(

Wish i could help :( --It feels like I have a tear or something. I thought maybe it was something simple like that, but I've asked the doctor about this and they said it must be internal somewhere (they have no idea where) because they checked for things like that and didn't find anything. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!

I saw an OB/GYN as soon as I could, and today, after a year of searching, I was finally diagnosed with this disease. I honestly would have never researched Endometriosis without you, so I can't thank you enough! I don't think you realize how much you helped me. I hope all is well with you and that you find a diagnosis soon as well. :) Thank you! Amisslove

  • If the blood is bright red, that means the source is closer to the rectum, not higher up in the gastro system. Maybe try using stool softeners. Your stools may be bigger than it should be and causes tears. The stool softener should help if thats the case.
