This all started about 2 months ago. It started with swelling and severe pain in my lower back. Next came the dark brown chunky vaginal bleeding--this is not a daily occurance it has happened about 5 or 6 day in January. Now the pain is not only in my lower back but also in my abdominal/pelvic area. At times it is so painful I cannot function. Though the pain/pressure feeling is always there it seems some days are worsr than others. I have had an internal ultrasound, biopsy, cat scan, mri, colonoscopy, and blood work-all of which are normal. The pain seems to be progressively getting worse with no answers from my doctor....please help!

  • Hi - I'm definitely no doctor, and I'm sorry to hear about the pain that you're having. I would maybe suggest seeing an interventional radiologist, if you haven't already. I had a condition called pelvic congestion syndrome, which can cause no symptoms in some women and debilitating symptoms in others. My OB pretty much told me that the pain was all in my head, after he ordered an ultrasound, both pelvic and trans-vaginal, and they came out normal. I decided to see my interventional radiologist, and he ordered an MRI with contrast dye, and lo and behold! Now, I'm not saying that this is what you have, but PCS can cause some of the symptoms that you are describing. However, this condition rarely happens in women that have not had multiple (more than one) pregnancy. Also, endometriosis can cause similar symptoms and can also be hard to detect and diagnose. Look up and make an appointment with an interventional radiologist in your area. Good luck!
