I am a very active person- and enjoy being that way. I have had some recurring symptoms and new ones that are starting to interfere with my life style though. About 12 years ago I had mono and afterwards began to have times where my body would go numb and tingly- kind of like your leg feels when you have sat on it wrong and it has fallen asleep and is waking back up-only all over my body. My doctor said I would grow out of it- and the incidences have lessened, but never gone away. Now in the past six months I have begun to experience extreme fatigue - the only time I feel fully energized is when I drink lots of caffeine- and we all know that doesnt fix anything. I have also begun to experience frequent indigestion and stomach cramping, as well as difficulty with short term memory- I just make stupid mistakes I didnt make a year ago- and I'm only 22 so I dont think I should be losing my memory yet! I almost always get 8 hours of sleep a night- but always feel like going back to bed either before I get out or soon after. I'm just getting very frustrated because I feel like this is a time in my life when I should be able to get lots done- and all I want to do is lie around and sleep. Any ideas?

  • Yes, I have LOTS of ideas:)First of all, have your doctor check your Vitamin D Levels and your Vitamin b 12 levels. You sound like a CLASSIC vitamin b 12 deficiency, but getting mono- your immune system is out of whack and that is likely to be part of the problem. Next, you need to stop eating ANYTHING PROCESSED or that has sugar of any kind!!!Eat NOTHING from a jar or box (except tomato sauce) and eat WHOLE NATURAL organic fresh foods only!!! You are having MAJOR problems for someone so young and mono can really drag you down and keep you down for a long time (forever..) and can be the start of some major chronic illnesses. But if you ACT NOW and stop eating sugar, processed foods and artificial ANYTHING then you can get out of the merry go round of illness that you are in now!!! I hope you choose to take control of your health right now, because you CAN!!! But it's not dependant upon a diagnosis or the right drug or pill- it's dependant upon YOU and the decisions that you make from here on out. Kerri Knox, RNFunctional Medicine Practitioner
