My girlfriend was diagnosed with PCOS. Approximately 1 day before her menstrual cycle she begins having excruciating pain to the point of crying. The pain last for about a week.

We have went to the emergency room on several occasions.
The ER performed the following test:

CT Scan
Inner and outer ultra-sound
Blood analysis
Urine analysis

All test returned normal. They have not given her any pain medication that works. The pain is so bad that it keeps her awake at night.

Any solutions to the pain problem?

  • Tell her to try and take Vitamin E supplements as well as fish oil or she could look up what vitamins are best with menstrual pain just so she knows exactly what she should take. I have the same thing. Everything came back normal. I found it helpful to take the vitamins before my cycle begins and advil before. I try to stay away from medicines though. Tell her to purchase a heating pad to put on her tummy area where it hurts. THAT really takes some pain away. At least better than without anything. Good luck.

  • I used to have terrible pain during menstrual cycles. I began drinking nettles tea every day. Nettles is rich in trace minerals and is supportive to the body. Whenever I stopped drinking the tea (I only drank one cup a day), my periods would again become very painful. You can buy nettles tea in any health food store, and she will be able to tell if it's helping after one month. If it works for her then I'd suggest buying raw bulk nettles from a place like rosemountainherbs.comTo use bulk, boil the water, remove from heat and add one handful of the raw herb. Steep for 10 mins. strain and drink. It's a nice tea and very gentle.Google: health benefits nettles tea
