For the past year I have experienced excruciating back pain that randomly occurs when bending or twisting. There is no pattern to why it happens other than I bend or twist in some way. I get a very sharp shooting pain in my lower to mid back, usually towards the right side. Pain would be so sudden and so bad that I end up on the floor unable to sit or stand up without excruciating pain. Once I lay down for a bit it used to go away and I'd be fine.
Recently, however, it has gotten worse and occurs more frequently. It happened 3 times last week alone and the pain was horrible. I couldn't sit or stand up... any slight movement of my back would result in pain. Pain subsided after taking the medicine prescribed to me after the first incident last week but my back would be sore for a day or two after and in one case, felt bruised.
There has been no numbness or tingling anywhere.
Tests done to check my kidneys came back normal. Xrays also came back normal. One doctor said its probably nothing to be concerned about. The next doctor is concerned and is trying to figure out what this is. An MRI is next.
I am in ROTC and the doctor doesn't want me to train until we know what's going on... but I can't keep going to my captain with instructions not to PT if we can't figure out what's going on.
Any input/ideas/suggestions on what to look into or what it could be?
