My boyfriend is 23 and has excessive blinking. It's not normal "calm" blinking, it's rather hard and involves many face muscles. He said that sometimes he does it voluntary and at other times it just happens. He also said he does it because his eyes hurt. I've researched a few things but I'd appreciate anyones opinion. Thank you.

  • I had a friend who excessively blinked, he also had weird facial spasms when he was uncomfortable. He had a lot of trauma at home when he was young, (His mother fanatically religious and would deny them food when she felt it was deserved.) This probably isn't the case with your boyfriend, but I felt I'm might bring it up because of basic similarities. The friend never mentioned pain, but I never really questioned his strange facial tics.
