Now going on three years and still no diagnosis. I have been subjected to so many blood tests, can scans, and just recently surgery-not only hasn't it helped, but it is so bad, that it is difficult for me to sleep because of my fear of choking to death. I spend most of my day expelling this fluid into a cup. Why can't anyone find out what this is? Have seen many ENT doctors, primary care doctor--to no avail. Hard for me to believe that a doctor can't find out what is wrong. Have been to see my dentist and my eye doctor to see if they could shed some light on this--nothing--where do I go from here?

The area in question only covers about two square inches--why can't this be resolved. Only one doctor has even looked in my mouth and that was my dentist. I don't think any doctor has taken this seriously.

Been almost three years and still no relief. ENT doctor did surgery and made it even worse! This is the most ridiculous situtation to be in--we supposedly have the best medical care in the world--not true--all based on money--no caring at all. When you are sent to a teaching hospital and the doctor/teacher sends you to a speech pathologist who has you eating cookies and watching you swallow on a machine--doesn't give you much faith in "teaching" hospitals either. Frankly I am disgusted. There will no good outcome for me. My family will be requesting an autopsy at the time of my passing--maybe then answers will be found. Yes, this is how desperate this situation has become. I have almost choked several times because of this excess fluid. If you come up with a solution please let me know.

  • I get excess fluid in my mouth too. In my own case Im sure its due to over active salivary glands. Ive choked a couple of times on my own saliva and when I talk... I got to be careful that people arent sprayed by it (as has happened). Ive never bothered to see a doctor about it thou, thou if someone gets spit on them while Im talking, its very embarrassing. (so hence i try not to speak to people while too close to them and at times will put my hand over my mouth while speaking)

I will be going to the Baylor University Hospital in Houston in the next few months for an evaluation. I can't sleep with this fluid. Have to put a cloth in my mouth to absorb the fluid. Afraid that I will choke in my sleep. It is embarrassing--even going to church or out to dinner or anything in a public forum where I have to continually spit of blot my mouth to absorb the fluid. Good Luck.

Good Luck. Nah.. the issue other then the embarrassment it can cause me at times, dont truely worry me as I have a lot of major completely deabiliting health issues which do worry me so dribbling everywhere isnt a concern to me (only when im around people). I sleep on my side and that way excess fluid runs out of my mouth while asleep (yeah it does leave one sleeping on a cold wet pillow, I just move to another side of the pillow or turn the pillow over if it gets way too wet.... (all my pillows are stained with big drool marks some the size of my head)....... I dont know but putting a cloth in your mouth may be counter productive as I used to wipe in my mouth and swallow a lot trying to get rid of the excess saliva but I just found I just very quickly just made more. So I wonder if doing anything which attempts to dry mouth out.. just increases it as you are thinking about it more and thoughts do play a part when saliva is involved.. eg if i worry about drawling cause i just thought of eatting something (at which point the saliva can really badly spray out from my mouth) I do then produce more. Best luck with your appointment
