Im a 20yr old male andI've been experiencing joint/muscle/bone pain more in the neck and shoulders. As well as shortness of breath while sitting down I also have been suffering from anxiety and depression. I've had every test possible from lupus to anemias, lymes disease, rheumatoid arthritis and even the b-19 parvovirus and they have all been negative, I'm pretty sure i don't have fibromyalgia either. I've been to 3 doctors and the only thing they have been able to tell me is that my potassium was slightly low. 3.4 Is there anyone that could shed some insight?

  • what about blood tests such as the sedimentation rate or white blood cell count? were they performed and within normal range? have you been checked for graves disease?

  • Well anxiety and depression do cause physical symptoms. Bone/Muscle Pain is a common side effect that people with anxiety complain about. About the shortness of breath, is it coming and going or is it a constant thing? Depending on what you are doing before the shortness of breath starts and what it feels like helps to determine the cause.

  • I had fibromyalgia for 6 years before it was finally diagnosed. Because it started when I was 14 doctors kept gliding over it as the norm is middle aged women. Don't rule it out. Every test in the book was done. At the time I was almost an invalid, had the low white blood cell count, migraines so bad they tested me for brain tumors, shortness of breath and arrythmia... now I'm being treated for FM, I finished university, just did a post-grad, I have a full time job and a successful marriage. Taking supplements such as potassium, calcium, magnesium and manganese and seeing a physio therapist works for me, no more anti-depressants, sleeps aids, stimulants or steroids. Find a doctor who works for you and don't give up.
