I recently had a CT scan without IV contrast of my abdomen which resulted in diagnosed with an enlarged uterus and ovarian cyst 2.8x2.4cm in size. No other abnormalities of other surrounding organs. I was hoping to get more information regarding the cyst and the enlarged uterus and what the diagnoses might be for such. I am worried as I plan on having other children (already have one-2yo) and I am 26yo. Are these going to affect my fertility? Is it cancer? Any information is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  • Not sure on the what, so lets go to the possible why. Sounds to me like estrogen dominance - too much estrogen compared to progesterone. But why ? A recent study shows that in many cases, lots of cysts very close together (Polycystic Ovarion Syndrome) are actually caused by an imbalance in the hypothalamus. Which is a gland in the brain that makes hormones that the ovaries eventually respond to. Pretty much sure that a regular doc / Ob / Gyn would not look at it this way, so an alternative doc may have better insight. If interested in possibly finding one in your area, repost and we can start looking.I am an alt doc and have some experience with these issues.
