Im curious if anyone here knows about this kind of thing. A friend just had her baby.. she took the antidepressent Effexor last 3 mths of pregnancy as her doctor reassured her it was safe.

The full term baby has just been born with problems.. screaming and jerking.. and the hospital has told her the baby has Effexor withdrawal, says it commonly sees that and baby will need to stay in hospital for 2 mths!!

She'd fed the baby for over 24 hrs when they also informed her that she needs to stop feeding it as her milk would be giving it more Effexor.

Im confused on what she's been told as when i researched this online.. different sites mention that Effexor withdrawals are better within 5-10 days. Is the hospital lying to her????? What's going on? Could this baby have permanent neurological damage from the drug?
