I have unexplained pitting edema in both of my lower legs, mostly along my shins and ankles. Blood test and heart tests are ok.
The pain is in the back of my left thigh and back of my left knee moving around to run along the outside of my shin.
I am obese (I cringe upon saying that as I am just now accepting it and still wondering how I got here) I am 5'9 1/2 and 282 lbs
I have a history of SVT with otherwise healthy heart. Blood sugar high at 129 but no diabetes yet.
I have a pars (parse?) defect at L4 and L5 and have one micro discectomy which relieved all pain at the time.
I am on 300 mg of Lithium (I read this can cause edema)
and 10 mg of Elavil (which I also read can too) Pepcid and Nexium and Lunesta.
I am 45 and have had diagnosed Fibromyalgia of 20 years.

Still in the midst of a veritable barrage of testing but am anxious and worried AND in constant gnawing want to chew my leg off pain :o(

  • The first thing that came to mind is what my friend Terri went through for the past five years and her diagnosis was fybromyalgia and arthritis. Turns out after another doctor reviewed her history and did some tests she had blockage of the arteries in her legs. They did a catheterization and put stints in her legs. Now she is much better, edema is gone and most of her leg pain too. An added bonus...she has some stamina now and can stand to walk, mow the lawn and enjoy life.Terri has suffered from type two diabeties, and is also overweight though she has lost a lot of her excess she is still about fifty lbs overweight.I also suggest you lose weight because, though you are not diabetic yet, your weight will most likely contribute to your becoming type two in a few years.Good LuckDebbieI have unexplained pitting edema in both of my lower legs, mostly along my shins and ankles.
