My father started having double vision in one eye about 14 days ago. Now his lid is swollen shut! The bottom lid is so swollen, that it is turned inside out. It is red and looks like it is full of pus. We have taken him to several doctors and no one can tell us what is going one or how to relieve the pain in his eye. He bought an eye patch so he could see without the double vision. Then is eye started going cross-eyed when he took the patch off.
We took him to an ophthalmologist and a neurologist.
The Ophthalmologist said, he did not see any damage on the eye and is baffled. He gave him some antibiotic eye drops; which seems not to work. He is having headaches also. He had a cat scan on his head and they did not see any damage or anything wrong. Now they want to run a CT test with contrast on him. He had a spinal tap and the results came back fine. The Ophthalmologist said that my dad could have had a mini stroke. But his tests are coming back fine. He has been to the emergency room twice and they just send him home.
