I have twin boys who were born prematurely. They of course recieved blood transfusions. They both came home on apnea monitors. One twin came home on oxygen. They both have of course have GERD, Allergies, Asthma. Since coming home they both have had Staph infections. One twin is constantly having reoccuring infections such as impetigo and cellulitis. He has not seen a dermatologist yet. He keeps scratching in the head constantly, even while he sleeps. Of course, he scratches till he bleeds. It wakes him up crying. The other twin is more sluggish but suffers with sinunitis and he created an abscess on his big toe. Which now sheds skin in the area of where the abscess was on the big toe. His big toe has always been a concern to me. My concern is if the blood transfusion caused the Strep A or could he got it from the hospital? Why is it reoccuring so much. What do I need to do or talk to their doctor about? They stay sick and congested I know because of the GERD, Allergies, and Asthma. The skin infections is a concern to me, could it possibly be in the blood.
