Does this sound like a liver problem?

A couple of weeks ago I had pain in my right side. I went to the Dr and had a urine test done. He said it wasn't my kidney and had a blood test done. It came back normal except for my cholestral was a little high. Since then, I haven't had much pain but I have itching all over. I don't know if it's from something I'm eating or what. It doesn't seem to come any certain time. I itch on my back, arms, head, neck, feet. No rash, just itchy and kinda prickly feeling. I don't have jaundice but I wonder if my liver is not working right. How do they check the liver? I was supposed to go for a CT of my ab for the pain but the pain let up and the Dr has not ordered the CT yet. Would that tell me anything about the liver or are there other tests for that? Or, does this not sound like liver at all?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

  • all over itching is a symptom of liver disease but it is also a symptom of many other things including kidney diease, other blood disorders and some cancers. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about itching. Do you have any reason to think that you have liver disease? Do you drink excessively? Do you take more than 4000mg of tylenol per day consistently? do you take other medications that are metabolized by the liver? Your doctor can order a liver function test, it's a blood test that will determine if it is working correctly or if you have any degree of liver disease.
