been having lots of problems for about 2 months now. rapid pounding heart beat. pain in chest, shoulder, arm, and neck. lots of neck pain. mainly in the front on both sides of the adams apple. right where the pulse points are. its a bad throbbing pain. i get dizzy disoriented and confused when this all happens. my eyes have been twitching for about 3 weeks now also. when i have these "attacks" my hands and feet also go numb and tingle. ive never had any health problems at all before this started. the doctors say its just anxiety. but i really dont think it is. so if anyone can please help i would be very grateful!!

  • Maybe you have a blockage in a major artery. If it's your heart a thallium stress test is in order. If it's the carotids on either side of your neck an ultrasound can be done. Ultrasound can also be done on femoral arteries. If it is anxiety or panic attacks Xanax usually works. It did for me.

  • Hello. If you are having pain like that in your neck, down your arms, heart beating unregular, sounds as if you need your heart checked out very good. I am a female and at 37yrs. old I started having heart attacts. I went to a big teaching university for help. They gave me every test except one and every test turned out fine. I finally demanded a catherization. That is the test that saved my life. I had all kinds of major blockages. I had to have open heart surgery. It took me six months of going to those doctor,s, being told it was in my head and being treated likeI was nuts. I am so glad that I was persistant and listened to my body and not those doctor's or I would ot be hear today. good luck and don't give up!

  • yes ive had a stress test done. they said it was fine. also had and echocardiagram done. fine as well. and about 3 weeks ago they did a cat scan of my brain. they said that was normal as well. and no i dont use drugs. i dont even drink caffeine. and they gave me a xanax prescription. ive been on it for about 3 weeks now. but the pain and stuff is still there. and im still having these symptoms. the chest tightness. the dizziness the trouble breathing the neck and jaw pain is all still there. it just comes and goes when it wants. some days im fine all day. others i feel like this all day. so i dont know. and im really scared to do a heart cath because my stepdad died having one done. so they really scare me.

  • If none of these suggestions work, I would highly recommend seeing a sleep specialists and having an overnight sleep study done. It sounds to me as if you might have Sleep Apnea which is known for causing heart irregularities during waking hours b/c of the stress the heart is put under over time. A lot of people don't find out they have this and it ends up killing them, so I'd suggest definitely giving it some thought!
